Default Joined the Seven Second Club Today

First pass off the trailer this morning was a 7.982 @ 172.47 mph. I had to abort the second pass, because I was heading for the centerline, but I later ran 7.976 @ 172.12 and an 8.005 @ 174.59 to back it up.

OK, here's my question: Am I the oldest (71 years and 7 months today) Pontiac guy to join the seven-second club? In other words, was anyone else older when they first ran a seven?

Congrats!

I'd say you probably are the oldest so far.

But there are a lot of us still trying.

Well done, had no doubt that you would be there (before others) at a young 71 years and 7 months.

Congratulations.

Tom V.

ps How was the car stability wise with the chin spoiler/splitter?

The splitter seems to work fine, even though it was really windy today (mostly a side wind). I had to "steer" more today especially on the last pass, but it was a function of traction, I think. I've just looked briefly at the Racepak data and it shows some minor downtrack driveshaft bumps where the rear wheels may have overpowered the track. Several guys who were much slower were complaining about the wind. Biggest problem with the splitter is clearing the #$%&^%% ramps when I'm loading the car.

11.5# to 11.7# all the way down the track. The FIE website simulator had predicted around 16#. I'm not a big fan of boost numbers, except as a comparison between passes in the same car. I think head flow has a big effect on boost, so bigger numbers may not mean much.

Jim, you're a tough man at 71 years old. There are probably alot of much younger guys here that would be scared to death to get in that car. Congrats.

Running 7's in a race car will help keep you young at any age, congrats on the passes, the 7 second Pontiac club is a pretty small club!

Who says I wasn't scared to death? I find it works well to substitute the word "excited" for "scared", though, when I'm in that kind of situation.
