Default Heater hose routing.

1968 Firebird 400 MT NON A/C.. It seems so simple, but I cant seem to find the answer I want. The hose that goes to the head to the heater core, I know its just plain hose, but it looks so goofy having a big loop there, I may try to find a hose with a close 90 degree bend near the end where it goes to the head so it doesnt look so awkward. As for the hose from the water pump, does it use that same bracket that most Pontiac's use on the head to hold the hose? Then does it go to a hose bracket on the fenderwell to the core or from the head bracket straight to the core. I've seen them routed all kinds of ways. I've seen some with a insulator there at the valve cover.

on my 69 GTO there is a proper molded heater hose for the head to the heater core,it looks nice and clean.
Also my car only needs the bracket on the head for the pump to heater core hose.

So there is 2 choices? what designates one from the other? I'm even more confused now ; ) I have a bracket here so maybe I will route it that way ; ) I think the parts book designates the fender bracket for A.I.R. equipped cars?

Not sure why they don't spec that details to location,
however it's always been my understanding that the inner fender location was AC equipped models.
To clear the compressor and such.

When I researched it I was told the head bracket was 67 and the inner fender bracket 68. About all the 68 I have seen is on the inner fender I that is the route I took.

It seems if you did not have AC it should have used the head bracket and AC cars the inner fender bracket. I think 68 they all moved to use the inner fender.

Just an idea for your routing needs, the head hose is molded.

I hated that too, and looked at many pictures and that is how they did it originally. I got a 90 and routed mine forward along the valve cover and it gracefully meets the one from the pump and they go back over the wheel well to the firewall together. Braided stainless looks really nice and probably how it should have been done to begin with.
