hello, I am finally getting my GTO done. I installed an LS1 and am re-wiring the car with a street rod harness. My question is this: is there a cheaper ignition switch that will fit the 64 GTO dash? Since I'm not using a stock harness I can't really justify spending $100 for an ignition switch that is specific to a factory harness. I would like to use the factory ignition switch bezel. Any help would me great.

I can't speak to an alternate switch but FWIW will say that I tried a reproduction switch from Ames and was not impressed at all. Ending up finding a NOS OEM.

Factory A/C switches have an extra terminal if needed vs. non A/C if that will help you . Ebay is your best bet for GM nos , have bought them for as low as $40.00 .

I had one too. Notice I said 'had'. Then I got one from NAPA,looked exactly like the AMES switch. Ended up with an original from ebay. The problem with the Ames/NAPA switches is they don't fit the dash properly or tightly. More like a universal fit. Also the lock cylinder doesn't lock into the switch and can be pulled out very easy if you turn it to acc.
