thankyou!...I really only glanced at these pics..but 13k miles?..on a TRANS AM from 1973?..I look at the interior and it looks amazing..these photos look like the opposite end of the spectrum from an E Bay overpriced rust rocket..I know that there are a lot of P.Y. members out there with multiple Pontiacs and I am not 1973 savy..is this a super car or super suspicious?...

I am guessing its the real deal..the fact that its not a SD...a D port 455, which I know nothing about performance wise...I would have preferred a custom interior, perhaps oxblood or blue...but if this is 13k...the price must be $100-$200k...what I find interesting are the stickers etc...these have to be indication of the real deal...NJSTEVES car is the closest I can compare the 2..yet I do not want to be wrong if this car has been touched up or altered...are those the original tires?..notice the dimples under the 1/4 panel lip...a sure sign of original panels

So it only took 10 months but I just got done looking at that car & all those pics :-] What I want to know is any idea what shade or version of saddle that interior is? I get the data plate said 233 (or standard 331 saddle when you look in the books) so that is just the standard interior with the color code of "saddle". Now I get that but the problem is when is when you look at Ames Perf or any of the other parts place there are several different types of saddle listed for 1973 cars.... For example:

Interior paint:
For saddle (VDM36) it is only listed for 70 & 76. The one listed for 73 is "Lt Saddle" (VDM35) so which do you get, Lt saddle?

PUI Seats:
The M35 saddle listed is "Lt Saddle" but Ames says that one is for 74 cars (FA129ALS). The one for 73 comes up as "Dark Saddle" or M42 (FA129ADS). Would you just go with M35?

PUI Door Panels:
No "saddle" listed for 73. The M35 Saddle listed is again for 74 but when you search for it you cant find a part # for it. Only thing that comes up is M36 which is listed as "buckskin" in the catalog but "saddle" online (FA170ADBS) where is also says correct for 72-76 cars. The "dark saddle" listed for 73 only comes up for 70-71 when you look up that part (FA170ABDS). I assume the buckskin saddle FA170ADBS would be correct?


Carpet:
No clue here... No #'s listed in the catalog but when you look it up online you have 3 choices, Dark saddle, saddle or light saddle. In the catalog there is no light saddle, just DK, regular or medium. I assume catalog medium is their online light? I'm lost on this one. My guess is either light saddle (FA352LS) or saddle (FA352SD).

Don't know if it helps or not but my 73SD and my Gramma's 1975 Esprit both have the exact same saddle custom interior. All the panels, vinyl, trim are the same.

I refurbished the interior in my 73 over 15 years ago and it's a one year only color ...it leans towards orange.....with faint black mottling...just like the red's and blues had in those years,

72 is slightly darker...leaning towards brown and 74 is quite light...

I don't think that correct color seat covers are available...unless Legendary did it right...

If you get the correct color vinyl...then you can just match the color for hard plastic paint.......

I'd say that ANY of the vendors selling saddle plastiv/vinyl paint are just guessing at the correct years/colors...

The correct color carpet is orange/brown...

IMHO, '73 F saddle is not light saddle, it's saddle

PUI sucks... Always has for a high quality match.
I bought deluxe saddle reproduction '73 Bird seat upholstery from Crown in the late '90's realizing PUI could care less and would never come through. Good thing, as Crown ended up going out of business. Legendary should have a good match today.

On the carpet, 99.9 % of us have no idea of the correct shade, I've had 2 saddle interior '73 Esprits in here along the BG 4spd project, and couldnt peg it perfectly. On one of my camel interior TransAms, from day 1, the carpet was so crappy, fuzzing out,, that I had Pontiac Zone Rep ok replacing the carpet with factory black.

Mine was real simple......just matched the replacement carpet color to a relatively un -UVed piece of original carpet from under the seat....almost dead on....with color batch variations considered...

I bought some material from SMS to repair a panel on the driver's seat of Gramma's car. It was an exact match and even had a 1974 date code. The problem was that it was canvas backed and not stretchable naugahyde. (the canvas backed material was used for the welting between the panels)

The 1973 and 1975 were the exact same material.

Here are some photos of our 73 SD with 18,000 miles and my Gramma's 1975 with 80,000 miles. Other than the carpet in Gramma's car which I changed 30 years ago, and the aforementioned welting repair, the rest of the interior is the original. Note how none of the panels match each other - glove box door, steering column lower cover, ashtray, console lid...
