Default New Pontiac Blower Intake

This should make the job of supercharging a Pontiac a little easier:

http://www.fastestpontiacsever.com/k...-for-pontiacs/

The first new production blower intake in a long time and much more practical (it appears) for making big power than the BDS intake. It probably won't fit under the hood, though.

Probably the Highest Quality Pontiac Blower Manifold ever built.

Design would allow extremely high boost levels. Good Job by the KRE Guys.

I know if I have to ask I can't afford it, but I have to ask. How much?

Try explaining to someone the logic of buying a 150 pound hunk of 6061 ($$$) and turning 133 pounds of it into chips.

As for me, I'm upset about needing to buy 1.1" thick wrought Electron-43 magnesium alloy to make 5/8" thick parts... but KRE takes the cake with that blower manifold.

Jack, we build lots of parts from GOOD 6" high quality aluminum billet then water jet it and finally cnc mill it. I think you could built 98% of the KRE Intake with 3 chunks of aluminum and make two welds and be done with it. On a 3 axis CNC machine (plus a water jet).

OK........what other options did we have beside the BDS intake?

I didn't see a price.I guess you'd have to call KRE (the story I linked was from a different site). As others have implied, I'm sure it won't be cheap. But the only alternative for max performance is a custom one-off deal (like the one I was lucky enough to find used).

I'm not arguing with that, George. But there are much more efficient approaches to a new-design blower manifold than cut-it-from-a-150-pound-billet. Seems to me that if KRE really had the interests of blown-Pontiac enthusiasts in mind, they would offer a more cost-effective product.

True, Tom.

By the way- can anyone point me to a source of Electron-43 alloy that's closer to the 5/8" thick that I need (than the 1.1" thick that Elektron has in stock)?

We have a Fabrication Shop that buys LOTS of Billet Aluminum for our projects.
I will ask them next week about your request, Jack. (After the 12" snow storm allows me to get back to work again.)

Never Fear the Blower,Own it! DO IT! My BDS fits under hood just fine. 12.9 1/4 mile @110MPH 3.08 gears and street tires zero traction.

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1422815175nice Very nice intake.

...needed THAT 30 years ago. Some critiques:

is there a Water Crossover available?

Is there a dispersion (wedge-window) plate; not shown? Or just Twin-Screw blowers involved here.

will it (be grind-able to) clear the HEI distributor?

Will there be any version to put the 8V-71 on? (Aren't V-Blowers easier to implement Fuel-Injection?)

Looks like a darn decent Dual Quad Manifold to me.
And yes it does look like an InLine Blower Manifold too ( a good one).

Hmmm... maybe it has to do with CNC equipment that they have. Then a billet chunk they can buy as needed, and produce a repeatable piece from, versus investing in developing a casting for a manifold only a handful of Pontiac people will ever buy. I bet if they have any on the shelf it's very few...

To me it looks like an option versus fabbing a Gutsram or welding up sheet metal when you want something more than the BDS piece. Quicker, more repeatable, stronger... but no - not cast inexpensive.

Thats a nice blower there, can you possibly elaborate what parts were needed to adapt this WEIAND blower to your pontiac, crank pulley, tensioner, blower intake?

I bought a big block Chevy Weiand kit new fro Jegs. Used only the blower case only not even the nose. Sold all Chevy parts and had everything else custom made or altered.
Used a BDS manifold that is usually for a dual quad set up. The blower plate was custom made a bit thinner because of hood clearance. The water neck was for a Pontiac but need to be cut and widened to move over enough to clear.
The pulleys and tensioner are March, needed a spacer made for the lower pulley to bring it out enough.

As per the "Supercharger kits" thread in this section.
