Default 68 Distributor Code

There is a fellow looking for a 1111270 68 distributor. I got to looking at 1 I have and it's date code is clearly 4F5. I know certain carbs were over the counter replacements for several years. Were certain distributors done the same, because this date code makes no sense to me?

Good question. Are you thinking that this means 5 June 1974? I have several of these and can check in garage when I return home to see what the date codes say. I can't imagine that a 68 GTO distributor replacement was still mfd after electronic distributors were developed.

Sorry for delay. I have 3 in garage but could only get to this one. See picture
7J25 is date code. 1967 October 25 is how I read this.

I would say the 4F5 is an over the counter replacement.
