I have a 67 GTO with a 428 and a tripower. I am using a Rodney Red aluminum radiator. I ordered a 66 Tripower upper radiator hose and 67 lower hose. The lower hose seems to be just a bit too short and the upper seems too long or something. I have attached pics. I picked up a flex tube for the lower but I dont want that on the upper. Any ideas? Maybe the top will look ok to others, Im not sure.

Can't you just trim the upper hose to fit?

I'm not sure if trimming will work, I don't want to try and end up ruining it.

Always had to trim the hoses. Engine side if the hose sits too high compared to the top of the radiator, and radiator side if it is too long. Just start with small cuts and work towards the ideal length. That will also give you some practice since it is pretty easy to get things out of square when cutting.

It's not too high, just seems if I cut it right in the middle it would be perfect, like it goes too far toward the fender. If I don't put the hose on the radiator it's too far so when I pull it in it ovals that bend like right before it kinks.

So I went to a Napa and asked for upper and lower 1967 GTO radiator hoses and you will see in the picture the lower is the correct length, maybe a tad long at worst so who knows what PY sent me, like I said earlier it doesnt resemble the picture in the Ames catalog at all, the Napa one does. The upper Napa gave me is basically the same as the 66 Tripower hose PY sent me. If I buy the coil for inside the hose, maybe it will be ok, Im only concerned with the tight bend, the more I cut the tighter it will get. This radiator is basically the same size as the stock radiator so I dont understand why this is not working right. In the pictures, the PY hoses are on top of the Napa hoses.

I have a new bottom hose that measures 18". Only used hoses I have around to look at are off the drag car, but it is a '67 and radiator fittings are standard location. The bottom hose is cut down to 16" when measured on the long outside arc. I don't remember whether it was a tight fit at that (wouldn't be the first time I cut them a little short).

Well the bottom hose I got from Napa is great with a little trimming but both uppers are no good. Isn't the 67 4 barrel thermo housing different than a 66 Tripower housing? Shouldn't 66 Tripower and 67 4 barrel hoses be different? I would think 66 4 barrel would be different also.

Rock Auto shows a Gates #20442 as one upper hose option for '66. They don't specify if it's for tri-power or 4 bbl, but it looks like it might be right for you.

Is the Rodney Red laid out exactly like a the OEM radiator? Same width? Same upper hose location?
My 69 OEM radiator seems to be wider, which would make the difference, looking at your photos.

For the most part David, but if you look at the picture of the hose attached to the thermo housing but not the radiator you will see how far out it is. The radiator is almost touching the side of the core support on the drivers side.
