Digging in the attic found a FAST unit I bought(I think from some one here) ECM I sent in in '08 for a firmware update it is part number 30-213210 2094 2094 for sequential fire. Don't know if it worth the effort to even plan on using it with all the newer ECMs and "self tuning" software to get you in the ballpark quicker.
I have the wiring harness for injectors sensors etc. Think there is a wide band also.

John Meany could probably check it out as he was the Brain behind the FAST ECM and its strategy.
But as you said, Skip, the newer stuff is so much better as far as capabilities. Would still be worth something for a guy with a boat that could dial it in for Idle, Mid Range and WOT modes. Tom V.

I have one too, a unit right before the v2 were released, not sure I'm going to use it for the originally intended build. But yeah, I think they are still worth using. You may not have all the self tuning features, but they still provide the same level of functionality for the most part. Depending on the build, you would still have to have some base tune done prior to any self tune can kick in anyway.
I was going to use it then for the specific build, guess there really is no reason not to still use it. I will do the homework and weight it out once I get to that point. I'm curious as to what other comment on, and would like to hear what you find out Skip. .

When I sent this in, in '08 they did a systems check as well as firmware update.
I have a friend who is an OK tuner but I'm more a jet and power valve kind of guy!

I thought that is where I got it. On the shelf for that EFI project. I'll use it one day.

Talk to Lee, he can tell you which way to go, and might even tune it for you.

I wouldn't get hung up on the self tuning function, you will be surprised how fast you will learn the software once you start using it. Spend some time in the passenger seat and work your way up the rpm range a little at a time in open loop. Then switch to closed loop and log the info. My new fast 2.0 has the self learning mode and I've only tried it a few times. You still have to get the fuel tables in the ballpark for it to work well. I do just as good tuning it myself than the self tuner does. I have an external data logger for that system if you are interested? You can still buy a new harness and get all of the electrical schematics off their website. It was a nice ecu and I wish I wouldn't have sold it. But I build 3 megasquirt systems for the price of that system years ago. Good luck, Im not a supertuner but I can try to help with questions if you get to that point. |

Hey Skip, after a little digging, it seems it is possible to flash the 1.0 XFI ECUs to the new 2.0 version, using an option file from FAST. That gives the older ECU the qwik-tune auto-tune capabilities. There's info regarding here:
http://www.theturboforums.com/thread...I-2-0-Problems There's a link in there to the FAST forums that has additional info too. One thing I think which is a drawback is that if you ordered the 1.0 unit with data logging you lose that feature at time of upgrade, or that's what I got out of it. Believe as long as the part number is 301000 you are golden. Not sure if there's a cost associated with the option file, I may dig on that a little more... .

Thanks I'll go check my serial number. I called them awhile back and the tech guy was of little help-maybe too young to remember the old unit

That's the part number, 301000, and don't think it matters on the serial number, if it's that series, it looks like the option file for upgrade to 2.0 works.
