I'll try this forum as well, street section is getting no response.....I have to be missing something simple here. I went to install a new (GM) shift cable for my His/hers shifter and I can't seem to get the cable into the bracket on the tranny pan. The factory bracket has a bent over tab on one side of the opening which causes interference with the cable collar. Is there a trick to getting these two together? Both my bracket and cable are factory correct.

I have already moved the clip that is a separate piece. Do you straighten the tab on the bracket (the one that bolts to the pan) to install the cable, then bend it back into its original shape?

no, once the clip is off, remove the cable from the shift linkage, then the cable will pull out towards the rear of the car

Thought I would jump in here since I was just working on some dual gate stuff.
I f you haven't already figured out, you have to angle the cable housing down in front to get it past that secondary retaining tab. May require some jiggling or little help from a flat blade screwdriver if it has closed up a bit.

Thanks for the tip. I did take a dremel and just slightly ground the corner of the tab. After that it took just a little extra force to pop it in place.
