Default Unusual Pontiac on CL

Saw this while browsing. I had heard of them but never saw one.

Same here Jim. Never saw one but heard of them. And to add.... never hauled one.

Apparently been for sale for a while - it was mentioned on this website last summer: http://forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.p...fe389&start=15

Must have been a dealer installed deal.

I wonder if it was done at the Carl black dealer?
(in Orlando)

They did some later Firebirds and called them 'BlackBirds'

"Took the motor and tranny out already"
That's too bad. I'd be really curious to see how a Pontiac V8 fits in there! I remember reading that the V8 Monza needed the motor lowered to change the back spark plugs. I would think that a 400 would be waaaay tighter than a SBC.

From my reading of the linked forum, it came with a 305 and his brother installed a 400 small block Chevy. I don't think it ever had a Pontiac engine in it.

Been for sale for a while! V8 Monza's you had to go thru the inner wheel well to get to some of the plugs. I had two 2+2's back in '79 both A/C cars one stick and a auto. both ran very well for 305's!

Ahhhhhh.... that makes a lot more sense! I saw 400 and instinctively thought Pontiac.

I hauled some of the V8 4speed Monzas out of Tarrytown back in 79. Far better than Wilmington's Chevettes. LOL

So did I, at first. I was disappointed to learn it was a Chevy. Plus in the ad he makes it sound like it came with the 400, when he knows perfectly well that his brother put it in....

Sure; but they do say "400 High Performance" though, right?
