Default Eaton Spring - definite thumbs down

I did a LS swap on my Trans Am. I called Eaton to order a spring that would work with this engine combo early March. I was sent a standard spring and charged a custom price. I installed the spring set; the car sat 4"+ higher than it should. I contacted Eaton with this issue; we reviewed the number of coils and wire size and deduced I was sent the wrong spring. The tech and I came to the agreement that cutting off a full coil should drop it to the correct height and if not they would send me a new set of coils. The tech also refunded the custom charge.

I did get to cutting the coil; it dropped the car 2". After driving the car a couple dozen miles I realized that was all it was going to settle - still 2"+ high. I contacted Eaton of this result and was told by the owner they never accept returns that have been cut (the tech had noted to toss the cut springs if they did not work) nor would such a solution have been made. I was offered a new set, with custom fees, at full retail cost plus shipping.

To me it is not about the money - I would have covered the shipping. Changing springs is not the same as changing your socks and is quite a ugly task. Nor do I enjoy being called a liar or being told springs are very complicated; no Mike - there are simple algebraic equations that calculate this, it is not voodoo...

I strongly encourage those needing coil springs to look elsewhere.
