The chemical that was used to treat my house for termites years ago should be gone or about gone and I need to retreat or put in some bait stations and wondering if they are worth it?

Bait stations from Terminex? No experience, but when it was time for a termite plan here, I decided to go with treatment rather than Terminex. My general understanding was that the bait stations would be checked for termites, then treat as needed. I went with a pest control company that treated directly.

They retreat after 10 years which was last fall. AFAIK, I have not had any termite issues in that time.

I'm sure I have neighbors that use the Terminex system. Never knew of anybody having a problem. But I just figured treatment was the right approach for me. I recall being told now 11 years ago that the treatment chemicals were better than they had been in awhile because of environmental regs. Something about regs preventing the use of the older more effective chemicals. Took awhile to develop a better alternative. That may have been connected with their argument against Terminex which may have been useful when the chemical treatment was less effective? That is what I recall being told by my termite company anyway.

I have a contract with a local pest control service. When I built in 1998 they did the trenching treatment around the house. When the ten year period ended they told me that they would have to re-drill all the concrete porches as well as the brick veneer.The cost to do so was not worth it to me. Also, they would have had to drill holes in our patio that is covered with a textured vinyl finish called nu-crete. They installed the bait stations and do an annual inspection. When they first installed them they only put bait in them but about two or three years ago they switched to treated baits in all the stations.
I have a termite bond with them that covers any damage that may result from an infestation.
Before the stations were installed I had termites get into one window sash in the sunroom. The company sent a repairman out and he took care of everything.
I think I pay about $300.00 a year and that covers my house (2800 sq. ft.) and shop (720 sq.ft).
