Default Help with "junk" mail

I recently clicked on an advertisement for information about refinancing under Obama's "new program".

Of course it turned out to be a complete waste of time and nothing to be saved for what I'm doing here.

Right after doing this I started getting a TON of "junk" mail. I mean like 10-20 of them every 2 or 3 hours all day long.

I right click them and add them to the block senders list, but they just "mutate" the address and come right back again an hour or so later.

Then I tried blocking the "domain", and it didn't help either.

Is there anything else I can do to block these "junk" emails?

Thanks.....Cliff

Default Junk Mail

Cliff,

Targeted advertising can be so annoying.

I would suggest clearing your cookies, and installing Ghostery to block tracking cookies: https://www.ghostery.com/en/

Also, I've also had good luck with Spyhunter to knock down the trackers and keep spyware away. http://www.enigmasoftware.com/products/spyhunter/

With both of these tools installed, and junk mail settings in your email program, you should be able to reduce the garbage to a manageable level.

Good luck!

Bob

Cliff are you talking about the HARP program?? If so I have done it twice & it worked for me very well it just took a long time on the 1st one. Also they keep 3 of your house pmt's so it looks like you are behind on your house pmt. but in the end I had about 30K of my balance taken off & my house pmt. went down from $ 800.00 to $ 538.00 this last time. But you have to be like me & have almost no money to qualify. Then it works.

Cliff, what email client are you using as there are different blocking capabilities depending on if you are using gmail vs outlook vs Mac Mail, etc.

I'm using Windows Live Mail.

I right click all the junk mail and block the sender/domain, but most of them just mutate and come right back in an hour or so......Cliff

Google your email address and see where it comes up. If it's out there, spammers will harvest it. Usually spammers will bombard you for a month or so, and if you never respond, they eventually move on.
Have you considered a new email address? Some email services may have better spam filtering. You can use your own website for email and set up the spam filtering to any level you like.
