Default Intake Casting dates

I've got a 9790140 intake (68 part number) date code is

I227 .... so that's Sept 22 1967 ?

Seems pretty early for a 68 intake ...but the casting number is correct for 68.

Can I get away with using this on a 1st week of July 68 GTO and still be considered "correct" ? I know it's a bit far out from the production date of the car ....but maybe the intake got "lost" somewhere on the way to the engine plant

Thanks,
JohnnyB

10 months out is just too far

depending where your car was built stay in the 30 to 60 day rule

but hey if you want to use it you can..but its a "correct" intake made way too early for the production timeline of your car....even 90 days is too far out..

A late production '68 Pontiac V8 4 bbl engine will have a "234" casting intake, not a "140".

Well crap.

Anyone want to trade a 9790140 for a 9794234?

The 4234 intakes are pretty easy to find. Check the various for sale listings and you should come across one soon enough. I have one of each. My car is a late May build so I plan on using the 4234 manifold.
