Default Help with a drag race classification

I know how long some of you have been part of this sport so I'm looking for your input. I plan on putting some old school signage on my project and one item was going to the class identification that the car would of run in back in the day.

Let's say the time period is 1968-1971 (about).

I was hoping on getting it painted on the qtr. sail panel area. F / XX

Or is there a resource out there that would tell me?

Thank you in advance, Bob

Man as Good as it looks the way it is, I would leave it alone and just put some numbers on the windows and keep it clean.

I'd go with "A/FX" (the fastest "factory experimental" class) if anything at all.

or maybe make something up like "AA/FX".

Thanks for the kind words, but since day one the plan was to put a name on it and some lettering.

Keith,

It's great that you answered my post, Dan Scott mentioned you might know when I asked him this morning. (lol...) Perfect timing!

Paint for sure, my drag car has to have brush stokes.
That's if my wallet can afford it. (lol...)

There were some common Modified Production full bodied cars also. Heck Reher and Morrison ran a SBC/Maverick in those classes back in the day. Guy that ran the speed shop I used had a 427 Edelbrock Cross ram with Holleys in a 64 Chevelle he ran in the class.

And nice car also!!

Injector stacks or carbs?

Injector stacks or carbs?[/QUOTE]

Skip, the plan is to keep it simple, so a carb will be on top. This is my first project that will be used mainly on the track.

Just received my 8.5 cert this week so I'm pretty pumped!

Smile NSS class with assoc. letting

Bob I would use the NSS lettering as a class. Chose mfg. of the day for the car and some notable name on the car of the past. NSS does require in most places 2x4 bbl to be period correct. The car looks great and would be a great addition to this class. Depending on how fast the car goes there are different classes. I run with 442 NSS and if you run faster than 9.25 you put AF/X on the window. Go on the web site and you will see the different NSS classes. Hope this helps.
