Default Ohio engine shops

Anyone know of any good engine shops in Columbus or Dayton area? Not looking to turn my Cat into a racer, just a nice cruiser. Looking for someone to short block it for a reasonable price. Anyone heard of George's Speed shop from Dayton? Owned and operated by George Montgomery and his son. George was a gasser back in the day.

Don't know if your budget can stand it, but it looks to be only 2 1/2 hours from Dayton to KRE, in Glenmont.

Tin Indian is also about 2 1/2 hours from Dayton, in Wooster.

If these guys are above your budget, you might wanna consider a crate short block from Len Williams. He can build about anything you want, for a reasonable price, and ship it to you.

Parsons and Myers Racing Engines, 711 Hall Ave. Dayton, OH 1-937-228-7278.
Bruce Parsons is the owner. Old school, 2 person shop. Bill Rink, 5 time in a row Indy Nationals SS class winner, from that shop. Specialize in Super Stock and Stock engines. They know Pontiac engines well. Excellent quality machine work. Despite local reputation of "being expensive", they get it right. Yes they cost more than a parts store machine shop. Montgomery Speed shop has been in business forever. George himself doesn't do any actual work anymore. They can probably do an OK job.

Parsons and Myers did a 409 Chevy high quality pretty-much-stock rebuild for a friend who put it in an old Chevy truck to be a street cruiser. He was thrilled with their quality and didn't need any racing stuff done to it....just needed it right.

Most of these mentioned have a good rep, for quality Pontiac engine builds. So, to help others who may live in your area, consider pricing what you need done, at all these builders, and post the estimates you get, on this thread.

I, for one, would be very interested in those numbers.

Stay far away from Performance clinic. My engine did not make it off the dyno. They did not stand behind a thing.
