What is the value of an intake to pan 68 WS removed running but assume it needs a total rebuild even though it turns? Mark

Hmm well that sounds like a deal if you were looking for one. I have had this one for a while, i got it turning and it was running. I just wondered what it was worth and if it had more value than any other core, and if I should keep it around as just a generic 400 to have or if there was a market and people looking for something like it to complete a car.

I tried looking for the vin and as best as I can tell it looks like or I can read 8610628? They first 86 may and the 0 and 6 could be something else as it is tough to read and not in the best spot. I am quite sure that it ends in 28. The block is dated K297 and one head is K107. I have had it a while, it came from a friend who is local so I would think it was from a New England car.

The first 8 is supposed to be a B for the Baltimore plant - I've seen several blocks with the 8 instead of a B.

I'd be willing to bet the first 8 is indeed the 8 for 1968 model year and the 6 is actually a G for Framingham assembly plant and the vin is 10628x. Early production Framingham car with a cast date Oct 67.... PY user is located in Mass.. makes sense to me.
Block vin probably reads 28G10628? if the 8 was a B for Baltimore then the 6 would mean a 6 cyl car..... |

Sorry it is in the corner of the garage that is not well lit and it is tough to get to as I have too much stuff. It would make sense it was produced in Framingham as it is about an hour up the road and I have run into a number of them. I thought the dates might help, I picked it up from a friend who is a big car guy and I had a motor he wanted so we swapped. I don't need it per say but it makes a good something to take up the corner of the garage for sure.
