I need some advice on how to get the rear window crank off on my ’69 LeMans. I have the clip-removal tool, and have used it several times to take off the front door window cranks, but I’ve spent hours on this one, and can’t figure it out. When I push the door panel in with my finger, I can not see the clip like I can on the other doors – it doesn’t look like a clip is in the slot. I’ve tried the shoe-shine method with a rag (stuffing the rag in there, and flossing it out), with no luck. I even tried pulling off the crank with a vice grip in case it was just rusted on, but no luck there. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you get it off? It appears to be the original window crank. Thanks in advance.

If it won't come off with the tool, your going to have to use a vice grip & break off as much as you can then use a drill to get the rest of it of. Just try very hard to stay away from the center as much as you can so you don't hurt the teeth on the regulator stub.

I use cheap screwdrivers, Bend the tip of one and fish it down, Make sure it is long enough. Good luck.

What I did and learned from YouTube is take a cloth and get it between the panel and the handle, the roll down the window. The cloth will pop out that pin thing in about 2 turns

Thanks, I'll try the cloth and rolling down the window. If that doesn't do it, I'll try to get some extra small screwdrivers that I can bend and try to pry out whatever is in there.

I am far from pro but I guarantee it will work. Slide it in there like dental floss and unroll it. It will ping out with no effort

Have you tried taking that tool and go all the way around the window crank....pushing that tool into the crank hub to push the horseshoe clip out.

Sometimes the clip is 180* from the other 3 cranks.

Unfortunately, the clip wouldn't come out - I tried the rag method repeatedly, and bought a set of dentist-like picks at the hardware store, but I still couldn't dig it out. There's not a lot of room to maneuver or see what you are doing. So I ended up drilling off the handle, which was very easy to do (see photos). I drilled 5-6 holes, and was able to wiggle the handle portion off. You can see in the photo that the clip was lodged at a funky angle, and was in backwards. Thanks for the advice everyone.
