Default First time Out This Year

Ellen and I took the Tempest out to the Tucson Dragway Reunion yesterday and made a couple of test and tune passes. The track prep was great and we made passes of 7.93 @ 172 and 7.94 @ 173. I had a .002 reaction time on the second pass. The weather was cool for this time of year. The density altitude was around 5,000'. No issues with car or driver.

It was a laid back nostalgia event with a lot of famous old-time fuel cars from back in the day. We didn't get to walk around much. We spent our spare time talking to people who came around to see the car and talk about Pontiacs. There's a lot of love out there still for Pontiacs.

I'm liking the new ownership at the track. They're making an effort to make the track racer-friendly.

I was there along with Keith Collier (mechanickeith) and had a chance to stop and talk to Jim and Ellen. Great people those two. We watched the first run and it really sounded strong and clean. When I say it sounded strong, I mean it sounded GOOD!!!!!

Good going Jim, I haven't been out this year yet but I can't wait for Kentucky (Pontiac US Nationals). My last race last year I ran in the 5.1's in the 1/8 (those would have been 8.0 passes in the 1/4 mile), I checked my data recorder my engine was pulling between 11-12 lbs of boost. According to my Dyno sheets at 13 lbs of Boost my engine made around 1050 hp or so.

GTO George

We would like to bring the car to a national event, but it's just too far for this old guy to tow a trailer. We do hope to run at the Pontiac Uprising in Great Bend, KS this September and maybe we could use some miles to at least fly out to Norwalk again. Time keeps slip-slipping away.....

Here's a picture of the burnout on the first pass. It was great weather. The daytime temps won't be that low again (70's) until late fall.
