Default 511ci CV-1 build

Finally made it to the dyno last night. It's been a long road. This build started as a small upgrade from my 725hp ehead stock block engine but it kind of morphed into something more. On a shoestring budget, Calvin Hill was put to the test and he came through big time. I want to thank Calvin for all his effort and patience. I'd like to thank Jim from Roland racing for the lending me a intake, Tim Russo (FT LB) for lending me his headers, Mike Leech for the use of the carb, Mark @ Luhn performance for the awesome oil pump, Jimmy Lopez from JLO competition engines for tuning, and Troy from THP for the dyno session. Also all my friends for their help and support.

Here is the build

ia2 block
4.375 bore
Scat forged crank
4.250 stroke
Aluminum rods
Ross Pistons
CV-1 heads
Std. Cam tunnel
In. .450 Ex. .440
Std. Lifter bore
14.5:1 compression
7.6 in of vacuum

Everything but the Pistons, rods, lifters, and valves were used or borrowed.

The thing was singing on the dyno. We pulled it seven times and made big gains on every pull except one. We only adjusted timing and changed carbs twice. Didn't get any video because the storage on my phone was full.

Very first pull it made
898hp @ 6500
733tq @ 6300

Last pull
999hp @ 7600
736tq @ 6300

We could have kept going but it was late and we were all very satisfied.

Default Congrats

Tom, congrats to you and Calvin!! It's been a long road but the results speak for themselves. Can't wait to see the GTO back on the track.

Is that going the 66-67 (?) car in your avatar?

Should be a cool combo.

How fast did you go with the previous engine?

Yes same car. 66 GTO. Car ran 10.0s @ 132 with old combo. Upgraded some stuff and still have more to do.

Thanks,

Nice build, will you have the car out this year? How high did you pull it to? What intake?

Thanks. I'm hoping to have it out later this year. We pulled it to 7800rpm.

You will have a lot of fun with that engine. Congrats on the dyno number and I am sure the car will be very happy with the additional 270+ horsepower.
