Miami has a hotel at the airport that I stayed at once. Flew in at midnight and flew international in the morning. Convenient.

i'm sure there's a Towneplace Suites or Residence Inn there somewhere, Marriott chain is my first choice, Hilton second, but Holiday Inn has the best points system so sometimes I bite the bullet and stay in them.

Despite traveling all over Florida over the years, I've never made it to Miami. The airport is the extent of my expertise there.

Is Miami considered the worst U.S. city to live in?

I just noticed that you're from Sweden. Florida in summer is like what I expect Thailand is like. Oppressively hot and humid. (And it gets hotter the farther south you go.)

Although I wouldn't want to live there, it's a nice place to visit. Stick with the larger chains (the more stars, the better) and you'll be fine with the hotel. Since the trip will be "all business," I'd just pick one close to wherever you need to be.

As for the worst city to live in, I always say that the proof of LeBron James' (A professional basketball player - for the benefit of our international friends) insanity is that he willingly moved from Miami to Cleveland.

You'll have fun, A.J. I'm sure there are streets where you're from that you wouldn't want to walk down at 3AM - it's the same all over the world.

I took the Hilton suites Miami Airport, it seemed ok.
Chris, where I live it's actually pretty safe to walk just about anywhere at 3am. You can be beat up or robbed were I live but you need to be darn unlucky for it to happend.
As for if Miami would be the worst place to live in I cannot tell, I just must go there to work and needed a place where i could get a good rest. Time is limited and I will not be able to see much more than the airport before I leave. I will work on 4th of July eventhough I would love to see or participate in your celebrations.

Nice work. Those places where "you can be robbed or beat up, but have to be pretty unlucky for it to happen" are, over here, what we call "places you don't want to walk at 3am."
