Default Top End Swap: What else do I need?

I have on order a set of KRE D-ports and a roller cam spec'd from Jeff @ KRE that I'll be swapping into/onto my engine. I'm making a running tally of everything I have coming and everything that I need. Am I missing anything?

-The heads are coming complete and setup for the cam I chose
-Cam setup includes the cam, lifters, pushrods, polymer dizzy gear
-Reusing my Comp magnum roller tip rockers
-ARP head studs
-Felpro 1016 head gaskets, plus intake manifold, exhaust manifold and water neck gaskets
-I already have a torker II with a new bolt kit for that as well
-Including a new high-flow thermostat
-Various fluids: assembly lube, oil, filter, coolant, mineral spirits etc.

I will inspect the timing set in the engine and replace if need be. There's only about 4000 miles on the engine.

What am I missing or overlooking here?

Is it too late to have the cam ground on a core built with an iron gear?

Engine coming out of the chassis, or cam slid-in from the front of the vehicle?

Your list didn't actually include a timing cover/oil pan gasket set, or gasket sealer.

Radiator hoses in re-usable condition?

I would measure the pushrod length as installed on your engine.

Ah yes, the timing cover. This I forgot about. Jeff hasn't billed my card yet so it might be possible to look at that. I'm not sure what the cost difference might be.

I decided against removing the engine, so the cam is going in through the front. Radiator hoses are in good condition.

When you state Heads / complete set up , are the needed lenght push rods coming also?

New Carb gasket?

With 4K miles on the motor I would have a 2 degree Cam key on hand to make up for any T-chain slop!

Yes, Jeff is providing the correct length pushrods. I have an extra carb gasket on hand.

I'm already way over-budget on this. Rockers are an item I can re-use and so I will.

You didn't mention a valley pan cover gasket. I know it's minor but you will need that to.

This was really my intention, but I just don't have anywhere near the space to pull the engine and work on it. It's going to be tight as it is doing this with the engine in the car. I was hoping to use a family member's workshop, but it's full.

The engine doesn't show any of symptoms that it's bearings are failing. No weird noises, or knocking, oil pressure is steady at all rpms. 15 psi at 750 hot idle and 60 psi pretty much everywhere else. Last oil change the filter didn't have anything in it. I will of course check again when I drain the engine. Use Mobile 10w30.

In a perfect world where I had all the tools, all the space and the money, I'd tear the entire engine down and build it back the way I want it.

Can he provide the correct length push rods without measuring on your motor with your components?

The Torker II might need milling/port matching with those new KRE Aluminum Heads

May what to run-down all the tools you need as well.

For in-car cam swaps, might be a good idea to have a cam installation tool (or fab something up). It's a bummer if you nick a cam bearing.

Cam degree wheel see where the cam card recommends. Lock tight, the right stuff, and the round rubber water passage oring.

Push rod length as stated needs to be checked before push rods are ordered.
With that said, push rod length checker.

Both Jeff K and Dave Bishop advised they could provide the correct length pushrods. I don't have anything wild going on with the only unknown variable the deck height. If it's absolutely a huge issue I can certainly measure first, then order second.

Excellent! I was so focused on "parts", I completely missed the installation tools--degree wheel, dial indicator, perhaps offset woodruff keys or whatever correction method you might prefer.

Parts are starting to roll in for the swap. The cam drop shipped from Comp so it arrived first. I'm hoping everything will be in by the end of next week so I can get started.

They want it @ 108. Some times you can not get it exact. Get it as close as possible to the higher side since you timing chain will stretch a little and it will be closer then. I sure people will have different opinions on this but it is what I do and have had no issues.
