First Car & Best Car?
I was watching the new Top Gear last night and they have a segment where the guests are asked what their first car was and what their best car was and it's provided some very interesting results. Patrick Dempsey was on last night, his first car was a 1963 Porsche 356 convertible & his best car was his FIA Porsche RSR 911 that finished second in it's class at Le Mans.
Thinking this may translate well here - what was your first car and what was your best car - include photos if you can. My first car was my 1977 Formula bought in the spring of 1984 but I think my best car (the one that pushes all the right buttons for me) would have to be my 1973 TA. What was your first & best cars?

My first car was a '72 Catalina 4 door hardtop. Perfect car for a teenager (nearly indestructible). My best car? My '72 GP.

I've seen the new Top Gear. So far, I'm not overly impressed. I've also heard that the two new presenters are not overly fond of each other. Maybe a little tuning/time will help.
My 1st car was a 1976 Datsun truck. I have a couple of pictures of it buried somewhere. Best car? Hard to say. I've enjoyed my GTO immensely for 15 years, so if enjoyment is a deciding factor, it wins. But it's only seen about 35,000 miles with me behind the wheel and none of the power train is original. I've gradually replaced it all.....which has added to the enjoyment, if I'm honest. Looking back at the vehicles I've owned I'd have to give "best car" award to the 2005 Tundra. I bought it new, drove it 125,000 miles and gave it to my son, who is still using it as his daily driver at JSU. 180,000 miles. Repairs? One bearing in the driveshaft failed a couple of years ago.

I much prefer the original 3 hosts of TG, Joey just doesn't cut it for me.
First car? a total POS 73 Chevelle. It's only endearing feature was a rust hole in the drivers floor board that was perfectly placed to dispose of an empty beer can and have the rear wheel run over it. Best Car? (Don't hate me) a 89 Honda Prelude 5-spd. Not fast, but quick and agile and a blast to take corners with. Put well over 130K on that little car through my college years with barely any repair bills. Many fond memories in that car.

First car was a 1972 Ford Maverick my grandma bought new ( 170CI three on the tree). Also qualifies as the worst car I've owned. Best car was a 1973 Grand Lemans, I couldn't kill that car (Lord I tried though)

First was a 1970 Datsun roadster that my dad and I restored:
Best is still the gto. Even overlooking its movie provenance, it's still first. Has always been a great car!

First car was a 1968 Firebird OHC Sprint, 3-speed manual, quickly converted to a 4-speed.
Best is very hard to define. I will say my favorite is a tie between my 70 1/2 TA RAM Air III-4-speed, and my 66 421-HO, 4-speed 2+2 convertible. |

First: 1970 Chevrolet Blazer in 1992. (Still Own)
Best: 1976 LeMans Enforcer in 1994. (Still Own) Worst: 1971 Plymouth Road Runner in 2003. Sold in 2006. I've never hated a vehicle more than that one. It stranded me several times due to typical MoPar issues. Broke many so called bulletproof parts such as the 8.75 rear, and 727 torqueflite.
