Default An expensive mistake

If I owned the Ferrari I'm not sure what I would have done, especially to the guy that said "cars can be fixed." Right, and some accidents can be avoided.

A lady drives on top of a RARE Brand New $400,000 Ferrari 458 Speciale limited edition. This is a massive supercar fail accident. There is sizable damage to the Ferrari.
The woman driving the Mercedes was attempting to parallel park but failed badly. Repairs will costs tens of thousands of dollars.

The owner seemed to handle it well.

I don't see "tens of thousands of dollars" of damage there, even on a Ferrari...

I am an insurance adjuster, Ferrari bumper , hood, fender, light, blending adjacent panels that will be 30k at a high end Ferrari shop at least. The part prices will blow your mind on some of that stuff. The head lamp is over $3000.00. Aluminum hood......plus the car fax after kills the value of that car.

Looks like the ladies first time out in that Mercedes? If she can't even park, should she be driving around in a convertible with kids in the back seat.

How could she not see the car behind her, in a small Mercedes convertible, with the top down?! Must not have looked over her shoulder when backing up, only relying on the mirrors...? Even then, how do you not see the car behind you?

This is exactly why I don't like to leave my classic cars parked in public, unattended. I've had two classic cars get hit while parked on the street. One of them was only there for 2 hours while I went to run errands. Was a hit-and-run. Never found out who did it.

Easy. She didn't have a rear view camera, or a car that could park itself!

The extent that her Mercedes was over the Ferrari's hood suggests that she hit it and kept going.

Wouldn't a reasonable person stop immediately upon contacting something?

I'm with blue71ta as well, how in the world do you not see a car behind you from a small convertible???

Default An expensive mistake

Knowing that Murphy's Law is always in play, I would not have even attempted to park anywhere near the Ferrari. Just stay the Hell away from it, lady!!! I wouldn't even want to drive past it, much less attempt to park near it. If I was the owner, I would have thrown a complete, raging, psychotic, foaming at the mouth fit, and would have had to be Tasered multiple times before being bodily dragged off in a straight jacket by a complete Swat team.

I wouldn't have handled it as well as the owner did. I couldn't imagine my new 458 getting crunched by some moron who cant park.

I can easily see well over 15k in damage to that poor Ferrari.

My guess is she inadvertently stepped on the gas instead of the brake while looking over her shoulder, but none of us were there so it's only speculation on what actually happened.

If you can afford a car like the Ferrari, money is not an issue, no sense in getting irate.

This.
I was also wondering how someone could ever be sure that something wouldn't happen to a status trophy piece car that was left parked on a public street, even in the tranquilest neighborhood?
I could never own a car that was so valuable if I was going to be paranoid any time I took it for a spin.

But I bet the car would still pull 180 mph with 'all that damage'.
Sometimes I think worrying about cosmetics flirts with the lunatic fringe.

After watching it a second time, I noticed the mercedes driver grinding her RR tire against the Ferrari some more in an attempt to get off the victim's car.
Wouldn't go anywhere because the front of her car was hung up on the curb.
My guess is she couldn't parallel park a Cooper Mini.

She's driving a car like that to get noticed. I'm sure she did.

My guess is she can't drive worth sh!t. She was probably yaking on her cellphone. I'm surprised her husband didn't have a heart attack. I'd hate to see the bill on repairs and his next insurance bill.

Default Parallel park

She wasn't parallel parking as much as she just drove into the parking spot and ran over the nose of the the Ferrari. The black marks were her tring to get off the hood of the car in a forward motion. She would have been a real piece of work to leave those marks on the hood as she was backing up. Ed

The Ferrari driver probably chose that spot to avoid door dings...
