I have a few small dings on my car that I'd like to get fixed. Has anyone had success with a "paintless dent removal" repair shop? That's where they massage the dents to remove them without having to repaint. I did visit one shop, and they said they weren't certain how well it would work because older cars have thicker sheet metal. They estimated it would cost about $75 per ding, but wouldn't charge me if they couldn't work out the dent.

Had it done on a modern car, and it worked great. It was in a bad spot too (right through the fender lip).

When I saw the title, my first thought, was whether it would work on the thicker gauge of the older cars. Since they won't charge you if it doesn't work, I'd go for it.

I agree; go for it! It is very unlikely to cause any damage if it does not work so you should be no worse off.

when we bought our chevy equinox it had a small dent on the door that I didn't notice the dealer had a guy remove it but he had to drill a small hole to in the door jam to fit the tool in it worked great. just used a flat plug in the hole. thanks bob.

A good dent guy does not drill holes. Take the trim panels off, go thru the vent in the lockpillar area...
I have seen hail cars with over 2000 dents on them get fixed where you can not even see a ding.

I had a walnut ding on my 66 hood and it is was mostly under a support. $100 later it was gone, amazing. Give it a shot, but find someone local and not storm chasers.

I have a guy that's in my area once a week...they have their nitch in the market. Just wondering about the micro fracturing of the paint over the long haul 5-7 years down the road ? But with that being said ...they have their limits and 75.00 is better than 500.00 if done with body work,paint ,clear ,and all items removed,belt mouldings,door handles,mouldings..... Don't expect perfection..it's paintless dent repair, NOT a magic wand.

I have had dents removed from three of my cars over the years by 4 different people. Minimum of 6 dents overall. On of them was right through the character line. Every one was undetectable when finished. I'm talking looking down the car with light hitting it just right and no trace. Matter of fact I'm going to get a car painted and right before I take it in I'm going to have all the door dings taken care of paintless then take it to the body shop. I'd rather work the metal than fill.

I've had paintless dent repair done on my 69 GTO and 70 Chevelle.....worked
great both times....undetectable.....they had dings in them like a door ding.
