Going to upgrade my fuel delivery this fall, any "affordable" bypass regulator and fuel log recommendations?
i was thinking this for a reg. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qft-30-900/overview/ but not sure on the log. Thanks! edit: maybe i dont need a "log" just something like this? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...6156/overview/

ok, so that looks like it would mount to a inner fender, then feed the carb. my question would be is there an advantage to have the fuel recirculate closer to the carb rather than farther away at the fender?

My regulator is attached to the fender with about 1.5-2' of line to each inlet on the carb. There shouldn't be any pressure drop between the regulator and carb in that straight section.

Use the type like the RobbMC.
The Holley type is very restrictive. With the RobbMc type you would not have to have a 'log'. I'd run individual lines from the regulator, one for each bowl. Then the fuel return out another port. They may have a bracket like in this pic, which is style I had. It mounted to the intake bolt. (close to the carb for regulation) regulator/bracket ![]()

I have run the BG bypass that came with their 220HR pump and others, great regulator. (Better than their carbs lol ). Not sure if you can still get them.
Carb sees full flow of the pump and returns to tank to maintain set pressure. We tested by putting a 3/8 tap in line, opening and closing it at 6psi only saw the gauge flicker for a fraction of a second. Regulator is mounted direct to carb fuel line for quick reaction. Bypass causes no restriction as carb sees fuel first

Just went thru this on the wife's car in getting it ready for Dragweek. Car has a Mallory 140 pump and I switched it to the Mallory return style regulator, it as dead headed prior. Believe it cost about $108. The whole system redo with this regulator worked flawlessly. She drove the 240 miles today and the Pressure never waive red or changed. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the return line needs to be just as big, if not bigger than the feed line. With the pump on and all the pressure off the regulator, you should have 0 lbs of pressure at the gauge showing no restriction and a clean return. So get ready to run all new lines.
