My kid ordered one and the ports were a mile off side to side. I had to port the living crap out of it and it still isn't right. Be careful.

What is a good alternative of same design?

Are you referring to cyl #5? Mine just needs some tweaking on that runner but the rest seem ok. Anything Procomp/Speedmaster will not work out of the box and needs tweaking with a grinder, no different to the original Tomahawks years ago. I've got an EFI version of this intake and intend on hitting it with a grinder shortly, I think it'll work fine once cleaned up.

It was the whole one side. You could set the intake gasket on and it was plain as day.

My EFI version works great, but it did need a little port matching, not too far out whack though and definitely cant beat the price.

Available thru Amazon, and Jegs, don't know if that provides any better buyer protection. Jegs has a very relaxed return policy.

Would you mind posting a picture of each side, with a gasket on it, centered to the mounting bolts?
Thanks!

Picked one up to go with the FiTech; dropped right on with no milling required to fit. A coat of 2k urethane clear will keep it looking new.

It's a copied tomahawk, they need to be ported to really work, I have done a few with good results on 500+hp 428-474's

I was involved with the original Holley Street Dominator program when Holley released the HSD intakes to be better than the very expensive Aluminum RA-IV intakes and mount a Holley carb without a adaptor. The intakes out of the box were an actual 3% better vs the best RA-IV intake we tested (several). We never had cracking issues with the intake.
Herb Adams ran the intakes on his Fire-Ams. I have owned several of them with no cracks.

The Tomahawk was a Chinese made repop of a properly Ported HSD Intake owned by one of the members of the PY Forums. That manifold was used as the model for the Tomahawk intakes.

I would agree that if the part number was ground off the intake was probably a "retrieved out of the dumpster" intake sold on E-bay for some cash.

For what it was designed for, the HSD can be a very good street intake (when ported) with a Holley carb installed.

I Agree. Ported HSD Intakes were and are Awesome Intakes for street use and bracket racing, I have ported Iron 4bbls that beat them hard up to 4500rpm and hang with them to 5200 where the ported HSD takes over.
A Ported T2 is about as good as it gets for a low rise single plane IMHO better average power.

I have a Holley Street Dominator intakes modified by Dave Bischopp. It has a port exit openings about 2.300" tall and use a SCE #128103 intake gasket that is about 2.320" tall. After the port work there is about 0.125" material above the ports for gasket seal.

This intake with my 'worked' HP950 carb and a 1/2" open spacer made 589.4 hp at about 5700 rpm on the dyno, this was on a previous pump gas 4.210 stroke 462cid street engine. With that same engine & carb my Victor intake with 1/2" open carb spacer made 600.9 hp at 6000 rpm. At peak torque rpm, the HSD intake was 589.0 ft.lbs at 4600 rpm and the Victor intake was 595.1 ft.lbs. at 4700 rpm. At 3500 rpm the HSD intake was down 10.8 ft.lbs torque compared to the Victor intake. Both intakes port matched to the heads. Back to back dyno tested.

Skip Fix borrowed and dyno tested my HSD intake against his tall port Torker II intake and it preformed about the same on his specific combo.

The Victor has a Much straighter shot at the valve, it's hard to beat, but it also is hard to fit under a hood.
I can't wait to play with the Northwind as I believe for bigger motors over 600hp it's the ticket, and fits under the hood.
My Personal favorite because I am Nostalgic is the Warrior. It's just so sexy. The curved runners are awesome. There is better intakes but none that look better! Imho, but not enough plenum and any time the runners curve and are not making the straightest shot possible it's probably not going to make the most power, jmho

The original tomahawks had the name ground off the bottom I have one directly from old ACE when they were fresh on the market.... There was some sort of a background name / source scandal going on..... My port alignment is reasonable...

They kill so much torque, I would rather use a factory intake and port that!

My reason for looking id due to the FiTech. Right now mine is on an adapter to fit the spread-bore iron intake.

With your combo I would highly recommend a ported iron intake!

Or an RPM if hood clearance is not an issue
