What part of the world are you in? I have a friend with a pretty solid '73 Javelin and he's not sure what he's going to do with it yet.

Stumbled across the motherload of AMXs recently. I believe they may be for sale/auction in the near future. Where are you located?

It really doesn't quite belong to him yet...it has belonged to his brother for 25+ years and my friend is trying to decide if he wants to get it from his brother or not. Basically, just a matter of saying 'yes' or 'no'. If he decides to sell it outright, I believe that it would be in that $4K to $6K range.
The only real rust is around a couple of the tail lights. Runs good with a transplanted 360. Interior and body are decent. He's a capable mechanic and technician, just never restored an old car before. He's just not sure he wants to start something he won't be willing to finish. The car has probably been off the road for 10 years or more. bdk1976, let me know if the guy starts selling stuff off. My friend would definitely be interested in a couple of things if he decides to make a move on the car.

Greg/Ron/Scott
I came across the AMC's about a month or two ago when I was checking out an auction of old hit and miss engines. It happened to be at an old salvage yard that has been closed for a while. A local company was handling the online auction but the owners son happened to be there answering questions, etc. during the preview/pickup time. Anyway, In addition to the H&M engines, there were (going from memory now). Two rows of AMCs - probably 12-15 in various states. Quite a few parts cars but several that appeared to be good builders. Also saw another AMX that looked fixed up and possibly drivable. May have been a few javelins, etc mixed in but mostly AMX IIRC. I happened to be talking with the son about my purchase while I was loading out and asked him what the deal was with the AMXs - he said they would probably be auctioning/selling those off as well at a later date. If you're truly interested I can provide more info to you offline that you can use to try and contact the owner(s). Not sure what the title situation is on any of them and don't have any specific info on any of the cars. I'm not in the market for one so didn't gather any more info or check out further. Cars located near Tacoma, WA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sounds like a little bit of a gold mine. I'll pass it on to my friend. If he's really interested I'll contact you for the contact info. He said he's still back and forth on it but right now, he may be interested in selling it. Thanks!

I have a friend that is looking for some 1970 AMX parts. Please keep us posted. Thanks. I really want to see my friends car back on the road. The last time I rode in it was 30 years ago. LOL

probably won't be taking on any new projects myself but a friend of mine got the engine, trans and a/c unit out of his '68 AMX all stolen when someone stole his trailer he had them stored on in Ft. Myers a few years back. He went combing the swamplands as he was sure it was probably some "lawn care professionals" that only wanted his trailer and figured they would just kick the "Rambler" parts off somewhere obscure. Anyway...always interesting to hear about this stuff. Now that I know you are into those H&M units, I'll keep my eyes open. We're in a big agricultural community and this stuff is everywhere...just have to watch for it. Miami Valley Steam Threshers is a local group that showcases this stuff annually. I actually sold my old '63 Wheel Horse a few years back and came across it at one of their shows! Anyway...thanks again!
