Default Washing before painting q

I am getting ready for paint, my question is what are your thoughts on washing the car to get all the sanding dust out. I have heard some wash with a small amount of dawn in the bucket. Thoughts?

Nevah done that.....PPG sells a waterborne pre cleaner to remove primer residue and other contaminants before top coating.....and wear rubber gloves when doing this step...you don't want the oils from you hands on the surface. Don't know if they sell it quarts.

I always blow it off with compressed air and then wipe it down with pre-clean. Never have tried the water borne stuff. Always wear gloves.

I have washed it off with water and a detergent ( e.g. dawn or similar) but only when the weather is warm or hot (or a very warm paint booth).. it HAS to thoroughly dry EVERYWHERE after that..then I wipe it down with a w.g. remover..I'm sure others have their own way.. preferences..good luck on your painting!
