Just started hearing a light thump noise when the clutch is released. No ill driving or drive train effects but it's hard to tell where it's coming from. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. The sound is really light but thanks for the response.

Is it constant after you release the clutch? does it get faster as the rpms go up?

No it isn't constant and is not effected by rpm. I think it's in the linkage assembly and it's a single light thump upon clutch peddle coming to the top.

Yes sound like the Z bar could be loose. Sometimes the end that mounts to the frame, the squared bolt, loosens. Just have someone get in the car and press the clutch pedal while you watch the linkage.

Does it do it regardless of whether it's in gear or not?

Engine off/on and regardless of if it's in gear. This is a minor linkage issue and as soon as I can get my son to work the pedal or get the car on a lift I should see the problem.

there is a small rubber bumper where the pedal would otherwise impact the steering column brace where the pedals are suspended, that wouldc make a noise if you are metal on metal, also the pushrod to the pedal may have wear where it goes into the pedal shaft, same at the Zbar end of that rod.

Noise stopped on it's own. Thanks for helping though.
