Default Where to get a correct heater core?

After spending a little time researching a replacement heater core for my non-A/C 68, I realized all my local parts stores have the spectra aluminized $32 replacements. It appeared to me that APDI was a heater core with natural copper colored tanks & in/out connection points. So I ordered an APDI core from Car-ID. It showed up & I think I got bait/switched. I was sent the same $30 spectra I can buy right down the road. Pretty frustrating.

I am hoping they will be standup about this & either issue a call tag & give me a refund, or just maybe it was an honest mistake. I will let you know when I hear back from them.

Anybody know of a quality brand that resembles the originals?

Thanks, 68RT

NOS ones pop up once in a while on eBay, even the real older stock replacement copper cores are half the weight of an NOS one. I would get the original one re-cored since all the repops have the tubes not quite right.

I just looked a little deeper into APDI, its an auto parts distribution company. Appears they don't make anything, they distribute other brands under there name. So I unknowinly ordered it because of the picture in the sale page, I just didn't realize I was getting the same core I can buy at any local parts store & it was aluminized, not coper.

I'll keep looking for an NOS one, or one with copper tanks. So many time killing things as I get into the details.

The seller I bought this from said they are sending me another one that will be copper. Not sure where they are getting it from. They are sending a call tag for the one I got & the other one is being shipped. I am hopeful, but have my doubts as I seem to get a different person replying to my emails each time. I asked for a refund if the correct part can't be sent, but they are sending me the "correct" one.

I didn't think of Ames/PY I have a long list of parts to order too. I did contact a radiator shop in town & they can re-core an original I have but it will be about $150. A little pricey for a heater core, but an option anyway.

Now I also need to find a good blower motor too.

X2. Ames is also your source for the blower motor.
