Default Looking at a '59 Bonnie..

Hello buddies!

So me and my father might head out next weekend looking at this black '59 2 door post star chief Bonneville project...

Wanted to check with the pros what to look for and not... Any flaws with this particular year/model, this should be a 389 strong block car with the big bop rear right?

Any input APPRECIATED !!

I'm more of a later model pontiac guy.. but this one sounds like a sweet deal to us.

You certain it's a Bonneville? Star Chiefs were entirely separate models, and I don't believe Bonnies were made in two-door posts in '59.

should be a Star Chief if it's a 2 door sedan, same wheelbase as the Bonneville.

Star Chiefs were U.S. built and sold, so it will have left the factory with a Pontiac V8...

Star Chief was in between the top of the line Bonneville and the base Catalina.

This site should help out. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/pontiac/59p/59p.html

It does have the "big BOP" rear end. (But, there is not much interchangeability of many components of Olds and Buick with Pontiac. Do your homework.)

Grab it! You don't see many, if any, Star Chiefs running these days. At least not around my neck of the woods, as they're mostly 57s.

My parents had a '64 4 door HT Star Chief that I learned to drive with. 389, posi rear, white body with a turquois top and interior, and an electric bench seat too. I loved that car. The 60s was "Wide Tracking" at it's best.

I'll probably be corrected on this, but I was told that a Ventura was a Catalina with a upgraded interior, and a Star Chief was a Bonneville with a downgraded interior. This seems to hold true for '65 comparing my Bonneville and Star Chief. The Star Chief has the Catalina dash with no wood grain and the door panels are plain.
