Default RH mirror for 68 GTO?

In the body work stage on the restoration of my 68 GTO and I see where a side view mirror was installed on the RH (passenger) door.

As best as I can tell, a RH side view mirror was not an available option for 68. I looked in the parts book and see 9787901 as the part number but it doesn't say LH or RH like the part number for the later models.

Does anyone know if a RH mirror was available? Or, would the same part number work for either side? Anyone ever see a 68 with a side view mirror on the RH door?

I believe people have used the left hand manual mirror on the right side & it fits fine, but I don't believe there was ever a right hand mirror option. I am sure more people will chime in.

Pretty sure you are right that no passenger side mirrors were ever PMD offered but guys like me put them on for safety/parking. Now if we could just get them to stay put and stop flopping around........

No right hand factory mirror on the 68 GTO.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I will weld up the holes and restore the door back to it's "as delivered" condition. A future owner can add the mirror if they wish.

Back in the day lots of people installed the "bullet" shaped mirrors on both left and right.

I know dealers also installed a right hand mirror on many occasions if requested.

My fathers 69 GTO had driver side mirror only. I just painted the car so now is the time, He opted to install a right side mirror so he bought a pair of new reproductions.

Bullit mirrors weren't available till 71, my 70 has them, previous owner installed.
L00K great, but are worthless, I've added convex stick on's to the outside face of the mirror, and a "child, rear seat mirror" stick on, to the upper left inside of my windshield
Look gauky, but I have no blind spot.
At some point safety and functionality outweigh originality. (specially since none of these "stick on's" are permanent.)
