My convertible top seems to stop and go. Is there a thermal shut off to the hydraulic motors or is there something else going on?

The top motor may be overheating. Check the fluid level before you do anything else. You may have a top motor issue.

To further expand, the convertible had been slowly losing its power it would go from no stopping to stopping 2 times on the up-and-down to four stops on the up and down to the point where now it will not close (go up). Now when it stopped i could wait 10 seconds and then it would move then quit again. Wait 10 seconds and she would move. Any help much appreciated.

Put your hand on the top motor after it stops to see if it is really hot. If so, you may need a new motor.
