Does anyone know of a company that will do PPG date codes onto new glass? I know there is source for LOF, but I cannot find a PPG..thanks, Jon

Why did I think I saw an ad just the other day for a company that did date codes for both companies?

I would really like to see some pictures of these labels if anyone has bought one. I have been searching for a 3rd generation date correct glass & its been fruitless. How much more are they typically? double, triple or more than std glass?

Very curious.

What dates are you looking for gtojon?

Try ECS Automotive Concepts. They are known mostly for Chrysler products they may be able to help you.

Would you mind posting the contact number / info to call or email?

Did you get to see a preview of what the final marking will look like? If it's noticeably different from the original glass, then would the correct date code still make sense to do? Safe to assume its identical?

For reference here is a little table I put together years ago about glass codes. Glass date codes must have come from the CIA!

Thanks everybody,

I called Pilkington & "Pilkington Classics" their classic car division , they do not have the PPG dating. They only do LOF.

Gary H. can you please post the supplier you used?

Thanks again, Jon

Yea, crazy system. The cool thing is you can continue the years through the 80's Not sure where it stops though as have never researched anything past 1989.
Seems a lot like the same date coding the tire MFG's where doing in the 60's until the DOT stepped in for safety purposes I suppose.

Yes, you are correct sir! ECS does do the PPG etchings. Having them do some now. Nice people to talk to. PH 855.532.7846. Charlie is the guy who does the glass work.

Are you sure it was supposed to have PPG? 64-67s I've looked at used LOF for all glass except the vent windows. Not certain for other years,

This is a '69, has all original glass except the windshield. All tinted PPG, except for the rear glass in the convertible top, is LOF.

Here is my 69 GTO convertible with its original windshield, it’s LOF and dated April 69 (car is built July 69 at Fremont). All the side glass is original LOF also.

Interesting that there is no plant code on the windshield, side windows are all plant 10

Here is the original windshield of my 69 LeMans ragtop. I can’t seem to get the picture clear but the date code is: 1 118 which means the PPG Home plant November 68. This makes sense since the car was built in Baltimore in December 68.

The side glass has the same date but plant 27

I noticed that my 3 Fremont cars and my 3 southgate (full-size) and my GP’s and my Norwood firebirds are all LOF glass.
