Default Shaker Scoop Flapper Door Conversion to Vacuum on 70 -71 TA

Anyone convert the electric solenoid flapper door on shaker scoop to vacuum actuation? The wiring and throttle switch are missing on my 70 TA. Seems like it would be easier to convert to a vacuum diaphragm. Mark

70 TA had carb mounted switch. All parts are available from our host Ames Performance. Very simple hook up

Thank you for the pic!

I need the brackets, switch, wiring, my 2 solenoids are bad. Looks like the throttle has to be almost fully depressed to activate.
With a vacuum setup. the manifold vacuum would keep door closed. When the throttle is opened the vacuum drops and the door opens. Just an idea!!

Doing more Research and a search on Google. I see a company "Pontiac Plus" made a vacuum conversion and some other Pontiac parts. But their website is done and I seemed to have hit a dead end!

FYI '74 GTO shakers were operated with a vacuum switch. I have no idea if any one repops the parts.

It still had a solenoid (one) to open/close the flap.
The vacuum just was a switch to tell the solenoid to open close.
(also used thermo temp on head(?) to make it work only when up to temp)

Thanks.
Doing some research and I see that.
I need everything to make mine functional: wiring, solenoids, brackets, switch. Originally thinking of converting to vacuum actuation on the door similar to Cowl Induction on the Chevelle SS's. would be simpler.

Camaro and Chevelle Cowl hoods both use the same solenoid as a Trans Am to opperate the flap.

I see that, there is a solenoid but I also see the vacuum actuator attached. So I am not sure what the function of the vacuum has.

I'm pretty sure Ames sells everything you should need, but I found these from a google search - does this help at all?

https://www.early-birds.ca/part_827_...08-213812.html
the image shows what appears to me to be an older Performance Years part number...

I believe the unit in the front of this image:

Is actually a fast idle solenoid which RAIII/AC and RAIV cars used.

Please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the reply, yes Ames sells everything I would need to restore the system. I was thinking a little outside the box.
It appears the throttle has to floored for the door to open. Would like to have it open much sooner. Hence the vacuum actuation or vacuum switch controlling the solenoids

sorry if this isn't what you want to read;
I've read it said that the Shaker is actually too far from the base of the windshield to actually function properly at speed - it actually is said that it can pull air out of the shaker...
And keep in mind that the factory dual snorkel air cleaner is a great unit...

The vacuum actuator on the Chevelle opens the body colored flap you see on the top of the hood. The electric actuator opens a second flap in the rear of the hood by the lower edge of the windshield.

When Car & Driver tested the SD 455 Trans Am back in 1973, the editor stated that with the block off plate attached to the hood scoop the car ran .2 of a second and 3 mph slower than it did with it open. I don't know how accurate those numbers are, but I think the cooler air alone would make some positive affects on the performance.
