Default Intake swap

I figured I would wake this forum up a bit.
My GP has a cast iron 72 Intake with a 1 inch adapter to use a 750 Holley Square bore on a quadrajet intake.
It runs very good like this but I know "carb to intake" is more right.
So I research for 2 days but know what I want but "search" is fun soooo.......
Anyway Performer or RPM??????? According to "YOUTUBE the Performer has small runners and a factory cast intake is better.
A RPM sits high and adapting linkage and air cleaners is a PITA but I beleive I'll survive.
So as of now im waiting for probably 2 days for the RPM and maybe Thursday I'll start to drain the rad and other misc stuff .

i was wondering which type of adapter your using. the one I had, placed the primaries right over the divider of the intake, between the primary and secondary. then I saw one that the primaries were tapered to the primary hole and missed the divider all together.

It’s the one you use to adapt the square bore to a spreadbore intake or flip it over and adapts a quadrajet to a square bore intake.

that's the same one I started with. looked like this:

I'd like to modify a stock intake to look like a performer and use this adapter (modified to mirror the intake opening on one side and blended up to the holley flange on the other) I think I wouldn't hinder performance at all and not be as tall, for better hood clearance.

from you other thread in the street section. this is the sealing plate I mentioned.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2732/overview/

don't know how truly necessary it really is, but with how close the square flange seal of the carb is to the spread bore flange of the intake, I did it for that warm fuzzy.

as far as performer or rpm. definitely rpm. I don't think it loses enough, if any, on a stock engine to really matter and leaves plenty of room for future growth if desired.

Yes the flat, thin adapter/spacer is necessary or the carb base will leak on the RPM with a square bore Holley.
Im more of an aftermarket parts guy so sooner or later it would have got an aluminum intake anyway, valve covers are next, then some sort of cylinder head swap/work.

On a mild 455 that I built in the early 90's, highway gears, shifting at 4600 - I ran 13.2's with an iron non-EGR intake, and a few hundredths (as in 0.0x seconds) slower with the Performer - no other changes. IMHO, the two intakes perform virtually identically.

Yes with 400 to 455ci it doesn't take too many parts to make a nice quick car, I like my basic bolt ons then some cylinder heads or mild home port work .
Love my aluminum intakes and Holley carbs best!

Ooh yeah! It is not a pain in the ass to install. Your Holley will be much happier now.
