They are siliconed into your existing taillight housings and spliced into the harness. No actual pictures are available at this time.
Seems they are drop shipped so not sure where they are coming from.

The ones in the Youtube video above of the 67 versions are from Digitails. I have Digitails lights in my truck and my wagon and they are excellent but a bit of work to wire in. Digitails also has great customer service.

So, if the ones Ames sells are Digitails they are likely excellent. Someone else said they are probably Dakota Digital and if so I can't personally speak to that brand.

On my modern cars I've had really good luck with Sylvania Zevo LED bulbs. To do a 64 it would take about $60 worth of bulbs to fully LED them. They are VERY bright, come with a lifetime warranty and don't require any modifications to the car or the wiring to fit. But of course just adding LED bulbs wouldn't add any kind of sequential action.

So ,this may be a dumb question. What is the advantage/disadvantage of wiring in LED tail lights vs. using 1157 LED bulbs that just plug in? Following the KISS formula, it seems like plugging in would be easier that wiring in. Maybe I am just missing something?

LED'S use less power than conventional bulbs.
wiring in the system is a disadvantage, yes. BUT Led's should last way longer than conventional bulbs. Also will give a better light I hope, with option to be sequential.

I would think the LED conversion would offer more uniform coverage of the tail light compared to a single bulb. there's more LED's over a broader area.

Maybe in my application ( Tempest) which only has 1 bulb to begin with, the bulb would work just fine.

You are correct, not much space in the Tempest taillight housing to fit in a bunch of lead's.

I have the Digitails too, in fact mine were the ones used to make the pattern for their first run of '67 GTOs. Nice guys, product will light up in series or all in parallel, your choice. Wiring and connectors are solid. I'll probably put fresh lenses on mine and put a little reflective coating in the housing to make it that much brighter. Guys were great, buy with confidence!

Reflective coating??? I tried chrome paint, silver, and someone told me to use white as it will not absorbed the light and therefore look brighter.
It does, mine are best with Gloss White.

I installed Putco Plasma LED 1157 replacements- They are BRIGHT!! A little too bright on running lights- I'm going to install some resistors to cut the voltage down so they are a bit dimmer, but the brakes lights are SUPER BRIGHT!!!

They are! I'm not gonna lie, they were expensive for LED's, but I wanted high quality- and that's what I got!
Like I said, I have to lower the running light voltage so they're not being confused with brake lights, but the brake lights active immediately, and they get your attention!! I figure with only a couple rear lamps, any extra lumens has got to help!
