Default Best efi setup for a Formula ?

What’s the best setup? With a Ram Air base? ( WU3)

Default Efi install

What I did on my 74. I'm using the Fitech Go Efi 600hp unit. Its the same height as a quadrajet. I bought an nos service replacement 1972 455 HO intake from a forum member here and modified it to accept the square bore of the Fitech. I'm using the aftermarket Ram Air pan that only needed slight messaging to clear the psi regulator. I'm using a banjo fitting on the supply side for help with clearance. I'm using the LS style filter regulator back by the Tanks Inc fuel injection gas tank to eliminate a return line from the Fitech. I bought some long studs to mount the Fitech in the front and fabbed up a plate with a stud to locate the Air cleaner bottom pan using the hole in the pan along with a grommet and the stud.

Nice! I see this as the future path of HOsprit.

My big question:
Are we seeing HP and performance gains over good Quadrajets, with all else equal? Before and after comparison on a good running engine.

My interest is efficiency, economy, and Starting after sitting for a week or two, without having to prime the carb, If performance stays same .

Grinding the nos sr 455ho intake was the hardest decision but it is just a service replacement. Fabbing the bracket with the stud to the grommet in the factory hole in the lower pan took some time but worked out great to locate the cleaner assy. If you or anyone wants to do this I could make a template and mail it to you, might even be able to send the stainless steel part to make a stud, its made from a u bolt from the front of a seadoo jet ski.

Thanks! I run a 78 carb with APT and would need to have a locator in a different spot. I like that it clears the bowl and its a holley style carb.

Default ???

Now I'm totally confused. You asked about efi set ups with ram air. Now you say your using a 78 carb with apt, and my bracket clears the bowl on my holley style carb. The fitech is an efi unit that doesnt have bowls. Can you post a pic of your air cleaner? Maybe I'm completely lost here.

My base is stock, but I had moved the bowl vent hole for the newer carb, so the hole fits a 78 APT Q-jet. Probably your template wouldnt work on my set up and Ill need to make my own "locator stud" Thats all, and thanks for the help!
1972 ~vs~ '78 Q jets have a bit different Vent hole "chimney"
