rear floor pan plugs rubber or steel?
I don't recall what type of plugs I removed from the 4 holes in the floor pans below the rear seats. Should those be rubber plugs like Ames J162 rubber plugs or something else? I think they are 1" or maybe 7/8"
So many details that have slipped my mind over the years of this restoration...

They ARE plastic. I have been forced to knock a few out in cars that were outside / no glass to allow accumulated water to drain out and not eat floor.

I was just about to order plastic... Lol
They are 1", correct? Sorry I am at the office & not near the car. Maybe I'll order both styles, I don't think they are that expensive. Thanks!

Yes, they fit a 1” hole. I think J162 in Ames catalog is very close if not exact match to my originals.

Turns out I have 4 of the rubber ones already. Must have ordered them a while back. That's the bad thing about dragging out a restoration for so dang long. Not only do you forget what is what, you forget stuff you already ordered & buy it a second time.
I'm guessing these plugs are another one of those parts that varied from plant to plant. Just depends on who the supplier was at the time. Maybe thats why Ames makes no claim for what was used for 68's ?

My wife and I once had a plan to catalog every GTO part I had and put it in a database on the laptop .... we never did ... so I continue to buy parts twice?
I bet 15% of the vintage car parts market is people buying parts twice
