I don't know. It seems as if everyone drives like a jerk nowadays. Rich Chinese immigrants driving high-end cars, Uber drivers and even anybody driving a beater. Not to mention cyclists. It's how they drive, not what they're driving.

It is a social issue. All brands. Rarely see vintage cars road rage. See large pickups do it often here in Montana, size gives bravery we think. But it is every genre of car and truck. I refuse to engage anymore, or even verbal or gesture. "I don't see you"...….

As 66sprint says, I think everyone drives terrible. I think Prius drivers stick out a bit more. I especially like the ones who try to floor it to keep you from passing them: Talk about bringing a banana to a gunfight!

A few years ago, I drove across Alabama and came across a BMW driver who thought he was more important than everyone on the road - even though his BMW was 25 years old and had a trash bag for a passenger window.

On the same trip, I encountered a slow Prius in the fast lane, and had to floor the rental car when he tried to speed up. I whipped right past a Georgia state trooper's speed trap, and he did nothing. I'm pretty sure he knew the Prius driver thing, too.

Not so much driving like an asshole here in northern Idaho; just VERY BAD DRIVING habits.
Before coming here, I have never seen a driver just dead stop in the middle of the road because they are lost or turn right from a left hand turn pocket against traffic at a light because they wanted to actually go right or face incoming cars when you are on an off ramp from a freeway. Also, double yellow stripes mean turn whenever you want and u turns into oncoming traffic over double yellow stripes is perfectly O.K.

Drove for a living the last 30 years. My impressions are that BMW owners are some of the most aggressive drivers and show little regard for anyone else. But Subaru drivers are the worst, I believe every traffic jam has been caused by a Subaru.

Nothing to do with the brand of car. It's the people. It's the "all about me" society that we live in these days. Everyone is in a hurry to get to the next stop light or in front of the next car so they can be first in line for their starbucks coffee, driving like their a$$es are on fire. I see it everyday and why for the last few years I've spent the majority of my driving on back roads and neighborhoods and avoid the larger traffic areas.

Yep, living close to Vermont ...the Subaru State, they are all over the place, driving around at 30 mph to save the planet and can't be bothered by pesky, restrictive, oppressive, insensitive traffic laws.

That said, I've spent quite a bit of time in Europe. France and Italy are a nightmare ... and yet you see very few accidents. Take a cab ride through downtown Paris around noon, it's incredible what the drivers will do, and the intersections that are often just a free for all.

In Paris right now, can’t believe how crazy it is and London last week was only slightly better.but at least there they stop for pedestrians. In Paris they don’t stop for anyone at any crosswalk unless there happens to be a traffic light and a walk signal.
I don’t get why they paint a crosswalk on the road if it doesn’t get the cars to stop. Might as well just cross anywhere iif you don’t have any enforcement of priority at crosswalks.

It goes for all cars, not just BMWs. I'd say it's the "I don't give a sh1t syndrome". It's the same all over the country.... they don't use signal lights and they gotta have that freekin cell phone in their hand all the time. They can't even be bothered to turn in ALL their lights when the weather is bad... as in "Wipers On ALL Lights On". Screw Daytime running lights.

I guess those laws were repealed. The Cops can't even follow the laws they supposed to uphold.

No such thing here. Never heard of that before. Our cars don't have them anyway. If I feel the need I just turn on the parking lights

No it's not a law but most vehicles around here do have daytime running light. On my way home last night I saw some foreign car ahead of me with no rear lights on.. it was after dark. I assume it had daytime running lights and the idiot behind the wheel figured ALL of the cars lights were on. That's how most think that do have daytime running lights. I guess ignorance is bliss.

One question. How many have actually read the owner's manual for the vehicle they drive? I can honestly say I have for the Jeep GC and Focus. As for the Focus, if I hadn't I wouldn't even know how to operate the electronics in the dash or how many quarts of oil I need for an oil change.

That's where all this technology in cars has it's drawbacks. Auto parking, auto backing, lane adjustments, distance warnings, auto lights..... It really dummies the car and turns people into mindless drivers. A lot of these cars with their driving lights, also have dash lights on with that, so it can fool someone into thinking the lights are on if they aren't paying attention, not to mention they expect the car to turn the lights on for them. People have all grown to be a very lazy society that expects everything handed to them
We, including my wife, prefer to have everything in the drivers hands, it makes you pay attention and be aware. We got sick of all that stuff, it's why we sold all the new cars and now just drive our classics.
The problem though now becomes what this thread is about, idiots on the roads and the worry of someone not paying attention. Hence my back road comment.

I hear ya on the no signal comment. I rarely see anyone use a signal anymore. Sadly it's now become accepted. Just the other day I needed to go straight at a 4-way stop sign, and a semi was trying to make a left turn in front of me, she started her turn only to realize she couldn't make it, then motioned me to go ahead and turn right. Um.....I'm going straight and now your blocking the entire intersection, can't you see I DON'T have a turn signal on??? She automatically assumed I was turning. DUH!!! Then she gets pissed! Really? People are just clueless today.

Just got back from Paris, London, Rome myself about two weeks ago. One thing I gotta say for Rome, they DO stop for pedestrians, it's even kind of strange, in a lot of intersections you just walk into the road and people stop.
