I can not wait till it's over. The traffic on the Island this week is crazy. Tiger has his yacht docked in Montauk. The east end is a mess. Plus I do not like golf.

I'm with 'ya. I took golf lessons when I was 10 years old. My Mom made me do it, to get out of the house during the summer. Have not played since.

Agreed.. my first real job was caddying at a very posh country club
when I was like 15-16.. the members there were absolute pr*cks..
kind of like Caddyshack but not funny..

It kind of turned me off on the game..

John

I play once a year. My sister owns a bar, and she has a golf outing every July. Me and my 3 BIL's go out and have a great time. They are pretty good. Me? I drink the beer provided.....

In college I took golf for the credit in the Spring of 69. Played once and stepped on a rake left laying around on the course. It was the 2 best balls I ever hit. Never got the credit and never played again. And green wet sandy balls are not my style.

Yeah, I haven't hit a golf ball since college either. Never was any good at it.

I seldom watch it on TV. But, I sometimes watch a little on Sundays. Most of the time there are several guys 10 shots or more under par.

But I tuned in today & saw that there were 5 guys tied for the lead at 3 OVER par. That got my attention. Hey, the golf course was winning !

And, to further hold my attention, a long haired guy, who doesn't look like a golfer at all, is in 2nd place, has been thru for quite a while, and has a chance to win. I don't know the guy at all. First time I ever saw him. But, under the circumstances, I'm pullin for him, just for the novelty of it. Hey, for a long haired guy to finish early, above par, and win, would be pretty cool, to me.

You can tell by this post that I know very little about golf. It reminds me of the guys we use to see at the drag strip in Hallsville, TX. They would be watching time trials at a bracket race, and betting money on who would win. They would make their choice based on car brand, model, color, name on the car, or who knows what else. And they appeared to be having more fun than anybody at the track. The adult beverages they were drinkin may have had something to do with their fun level. Anyhow, occasionally, just for entertainment, we'd go over & sit in the stands, just close enuff to hear what they were saying. It was pretty comical.

I played a bunch in the '80's. I just don't have the 4-5 hours to spare on the weekends anymore, or the passion. I can understand the allure, but I'd rather be doing 'car stuff' or other outdoor activities.

If by golf you mean laying under your truck for four hours on a Sunday afternoon ... then yes I play golf.

Tommy Fleetwood, long-haired guy, showed up pretty good today. Was pulling for him. Hey Gary, the rakes are near the bunkers, your not supposed to get you ball (s) there! LOL
