Default Separating bucket seat cusions 1962-1965?

Is the only way to remove the seatbacks from the lower cushions on the 62-65 style B body bucket seats is to just "strong arm" ....i.e. physically spread (bend ) the arms on the seat backs to get them off the lower cushion pivot pins? Or is there a more acceptable / easier way? Thx for any feedback.

Have you looked in the Fisher Body manual? I am sure there must be a way, check to see how GM would have you separate the 2 halves.

Don't happen to have the body manual that would cover any of those years. Guess I'll open up the sides of one of seat backs and see what I can find out

I opened up the side(s) of one of the seat backs, and I don't see anything that would lend itself to easily removing the seat back from the lower cushion. Looks to me like a "brute force" situation, just flexing the longest pivot arm on the seat back off the pivot pin on the lower cushion. These are 64 GP buckets FYI, they fold forward at an angle, not straight across like the 65 versions that look basically the same.

When I recovered the seats in my 62 Grand Prix, brute force was the way to go to seperate them. No harm, No foul.
