Default Firebird 400/400 I picked up

I just picked up a 1967 Firebird 400 with a Turbo 400 and a 10 bolt with 3.90 gear and has the traction bar on the rear.

No PS,PB, or A/C

It looks to have aluminum front drum brakes.

It has headers and a Holley carb on it.

Tyrol Blue with deluxe blue interior.

The guy I bought it from said the previous owner brought it from California in 1980 to Maryland and it just sat in his garage.

He said it was a First week of March build.

The VIN is 223377U115316
Above the VIN tag there is a sticker that says:

TUNE MASTERS
TUNE. IN
MARCH. 72.

Any information on this would be great!

Thanks!

If it was sold new in CA, it would have come from the factory with an air pump (required for emissions only in CA). But given the headers/Holley... the air pump was likely ditched.

Post pics - sounds like a cool car.

The colors are great, and deluxe interior is always ... Deluxe.

If it has open scoops - possibly an original RamAir 1 car (ultra rarity)
3.90 was standard with that engine in a Bird.
3.90 was also optional with any 400 though.

PHS would be only answer - unless it still has numbers matching engine.

Not familiar with Tune Masters - probably an old dyno shop.

I would love to know what sort of aluminum drums would fit the front.

I can't tell how late in the year that VIN would be but all of the RA cars were batch built at the end.

What does the cowl tag have for a build date?

Cool car! I own a Tyrol blue with parchment interior 67 Ram Air firebird.

Your vin is way too early to be a Ram Air Car. It would need to be a vin 155xxx or above..they were all made in July 67.

Please post some pics!

It’s kinda a mess. It’s got primer here and there and needs front floors and a partial trunk pan.

It was built in Ohio.

So the Birds couldn't get RamAir engines until WAY After the GTO's already had it ?
I have 67 R/A GTO samples starting around Dec 66 ( 12c )

what a rip off

Just dug up a 67 Bird order form = Revised Jan 1967
doesn't even list out the 400 HO engine option yet for the Bird.

I don't believe there was any 400 HO option in '67. Those came along in '68.
'67 was just "base" 400, and 400 Ram Air.

^ Keith's recollection matches what I have researched on the '67s.

HO option was on the 326's only.

670 heads were used on the ram air and non-ram air cars in '67
I believe the cam was the only difference in the motors at that point, carb was a different part number as well, but I cannot remember the specific spec differences.
