Default Great Cam!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMi5XAQUYME

I have this in my 468 with a TKO500 and a 3.23 rear. I have R.A.R.E Ram Air headers, so it is a little tamer on the exhaust note.

Love IT!!!!! The only thing I can complain about this cam, is that sub 1500 RPM, it is a hair not street friendly. Once it is in the power band its a beast!!!! Might just be my combo, as I think I could use a little more timing and it might need to come in a little faster. I got the car close on the tune to where it would be reliable on Power Tour.

1/2 of me wanted the 705, and 1/2 is glad that I went with the 704. The 705 would have been fine with my combo, but the upper RPM range is somewhere, the car doesn't stay long for as its mostly a cruiser and a 2nd and 3rd gear fun zone.

As for a idle, I have her around ~750 rpm and once warmed up, she has around 10.5 - 11 in of HG. I also have PDB and don't have any issues. I know cause I had an "OH SH%T!" moment on PT as the guy in front of me changed lanes and the rustang in front of me was at a complete stop.

I put 2200-2400 miles on it around the country on PT this year and averaged close to 14 MPG. That's with MANY WOT pulls in every gear. At 3500 RPM in 5th she was still pulling really hard. Once the front end starts to pull up, I slowed down.

No regrets, just get this cam!!!

PonchoJoe, if I'm reading this right, you installed this cam at 104.5* and the card says 106*. I am no cam expert, no engine expert. Just trying to learn. Does that mean you advanced it 1.5* from recommended? Does that move your power band to a lower RPM? Thanks in advance! Pun intended (just throwing a little humor in there)

"....but my preference, of course, would be the Voodoo. I think it will be more explosive when you step on the throttle. Never been disappointed with the 704 Voodoo in a 455. Install it on a 104-106° ICL."

Paul Carter has quite a bit of experience with Voodoo cams. Also do a search using gtofreek and take note of the spring pressure he uses.

Wouldn’t the static CR be very important in selecting .....and a reasonable variable to consider when making comparisons?
How much does it need minimum in a ~455+”?

THIS!!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Paul kinda made my mind up on this cam when I was searching around. Food for thought,
on the highway, my friends Mustang and my Tempest have roughly the same power to weigh ratio, we stayed in 5th gear and mashed it from ~60MPH on the highway, he pulled away from me until I hit 2100 and we pulled away!! I dont have any track runs on this car so all the XP I have is from driving it on the street.

Super fun. WHat carb are you looking at? or EFI??
