Default E G T Temps

Went to an aluminum block and have noticed my egt Temps are different by about 100 to 200 degrees different than the iron block . All else is basically the same company timing cam install position ect. Is this normal between the 2 blocked

I sure wouldn't think block material would make any difference in EGT's. Something doesn't seem right there.

The iron liners in a Aluminum block pass heat much faster into the block / coolant due to being in a Aluminum block, so why would not your Exh temps be lowered by some amount?

The question also is is what's the difference in your water temp, in specific if your running a thermostat how much longer does it take for it to open , as this would be a indicator of faster heat transfer.

If all of your EGTs where not lower then that would be a sign of a issue to me!

It's time to up the compression to make more heat!

Default Egt

No thermostat only run an egt thermocouple in 6 and 4 cylinders but they are about even on both sides . I do like the idea of upping the compression I'm at 15 to 1 now
