Default 1963 Tempest Power Brake Unit

Does anyone out there have an original 63 Power Brake unit on their car ? Found one on the internet.... not sure if it's correct. Photo's of an original setup would be very helpful.
Thanks, JK

Does it take a special master cylinder or the same as the non-power brake one?

Make sure you get all the pieces that go to it, there is a long extension rod a clevis, the brake pedal (the hole for the push-rod is drilled in a different spot than a non-power brake pedal). There is also a metal 90 degree support brace that runs off of one of the MC bolt studs over to the Driver's side inner fender well. And the nylon vacuum port which is not 90 degree angled like most all other GM cars; it is straight.

If you don't get all those unique pieces that go to it when you buy the booster those are small items which are probably not going to be easy to find.

Default master cylinder

The master cylinder looks the same as the manual brake, BUT without the clevis rod. I don't know if the piston bores are the same or different. The pedal attachement hole is also about 1" lower.

I dont have a temest but on the olds f-85 the bore is 1-1/8" I am thinking about using a dual cyl. from a 1989 ford f-150.
This is what the olds has...you think you have issues LOL This is mounted under the dash. I like the tempest set upu better it is more traditional

Default Factory small car power brakes; Buick and Oldsmobile, '62-63.

Many years ago I was going thru some old junkyards and all the way in the back I found an Oldsmobile small body car. I think it was a 62 or a 63 F85/Cutlass. It had a 215 V8 Aluminum engine in it along with factory power brakes. The engine was partially disassembled and some of the top end pieces were gone. but the brake system seemed intact.

I thought some Buick or Olds guy would want the power brake setup. It took several hours to carefully remove all of the pieces that went to it, there was a metal vacuum chamber out underneath the hood, several pipes and hoses. Valves, etc. The pedal and pedal support bracket were unique. The strange thing was the booster was mounted inside of the car, up underneath the dash! Here is the only photo I have left if it. It sold pretty fast as I recall.
