This is my favorite summer time fishing spot, the view from the old family home place. Ice is what we add to our sweet tea.

The lakes in maine were starting to freeze over this weekend, some of the small ones are almost totally covered!

Can't wait to get out there this winter.

For the past 40 years, and for three days every February, crowds that are more than 10 times the population of tiny Walker, Minn. (pop. 1,069) gather on Minnesota’s third largest lake (112,000-acres), Leech Lake, for a festival named for one of the ugliest bottom-dwelling fish, the eelpout. In a state where it is common to embrace the quirky and find great fun in the most unlikely circumstances and weather conditions, this festival is pure Minnesota fun.

I've done icefishing in MN and WI. Not really a big fan. Rather go to some ice racing events for fun on a frozen lake.

Nice fish Scott. That's the one thing I miss about Northern NY... the trout fishing.

It's a well known fact that 10% of ice fishermen are hiding bodies under the ice.

I would like to try it in the arctic where the salt water freezes. I just have a hard time getting excited about fresh water fishing in any form.

Then you haven't hooked a good Brown Trout, or been King Salmon fishing. I sure miss fishing up in Northern NY and Lake Ontario. Muskie fishing in the St. Lawrence River is something else too. Big uns.

I would be willing to try salmon fishing. But thats kinda cheating since they are oceanic too by nature. Sure I would like to snap into a big pike or muskie. Still, nothing like a 300lb goliath or any number of other salt water fish
.
