1962 Pontiac Catalina Hotrod Cruiser
1962 Pontiac Catalina Hotrod
Here is the scoop: 1962 pontiac Catalina sedan coupe, base Catalina. 1972 Pontiac 400 Ram air manifolds Power steering Manual disc brakes/rear drums Jegs full dual exhaust kit Aluminum radiator Mini starter, new battery last year Edelbrock carb with regulator, quadrajet to go with it potentially. New water pump and timing chain. New plugs, wires etc New heater core (heater blower not working though) New fuel tank and sender. T56 swap: 1998 t56 swap with adapter plate. All mechanical linkage still, custom tunnel for transmission that’s a bolt in. 4:10 gears, non posi swap. New outer axle bearings during swap as well. New brake shoes in back, drums turned. New shocks and springs in back with rear adjustable upper control arms to correct pinion angle. Disc brake conversion up front- all new parts- master, prop valve, lines up front, etc All updated front suspension- springs, sway bar links, shocks, all bushings, etc Alignment done post everything. 17” rims with great tread all around Floor has been cleaned up and painted, it’s pretty good for a 62. Patch made to right corner under the passenger corner. The trunk Would need done and has a few soft spots, for the person who cares. Seats front and back are in good condition for a 62. I added some bolstering to the front lowers. Headliner and dash are not great but I personally like the patina. Here is the full disclosure on the car: Ebrake is not hooked up but parts are present. Has some bondo Not perfect paint or body but looks good. It’s enamel for sure and looks old. But, it looks ok and very cool- I have taken it to car shows. It is not anywhere near a show car! Frame is not great but functional. Has a patch I welded in as I found a soft spot in frame. The trunk mount needs replaced on passenger side Again, it has some rust. Needs carpet.($185) Needs kick panels (:$30) Needs driveshaft lengthened 1” (~$100) Needs trans crossmember rubber mounts ($30) Needs speedometer figured out for t56 Mechanically runs good. I have put roughly 1500 miles on the car or so since I got it. With aluminum radiator runs at 180 on hot days. Brake pedal is firm and brakes work exceptional. It needs the drive shaft lengthened 1” as it has a small vibration occasionally. It needs addressed. Car runs, starts and can be test driven. Just took it around the block and runs and stops great. Very comfy cool cruiser. All lights/brights/blinkers/interior/dome lights work. Have a relay upgrade kit for headlights that goes with it. Have the original 5x5 wheels that go with it but will likely not fit the disc brake conversion. Currently have wheel adapters to get the 5 spokes on it. Selling the car because we have a boat which is something whole family can do. Plus, I am back to college at almost 40yrs old. Simply no time for the car and everything else. Clean title Car is badass. Asking $9500 Or best offer. Pics and video available upon request. Joel 614-579-3913 |

I have been following your ownership of this car since you first posted. I am also sorry to see you sell it. I like what you have done with the car and the quality of the work. You never let weird 61-62 full size specific problems slow you down or stop you. I understand the attraction of having a boat as I towed an old Sea Ray all over the Midwest for over a decade with my 66 Pontiac 421 9 passenger wagon. We had allot of family fun with the boat and lots of nice lakes to enjoy in a 6 hour radius of OH. Depending on how much you really love your car now, if there is anyway you can just put it away for 5-7 years and then get back to it, you may be a very happy camper. I sold several 60's Pontiacs I wish I had back now 20 years later. If I didn't already own a 62 Catalina, I would be a buyer of the one you have for sure. Best of luck to you, enjoy the family boating adventure.

MG, thank you for the kind response.
No, I think it’s time to focus on the family. Car is more about me and I need to let it go. Also planning on a mud room for the wife in the future so need the garage space. Don’t want a car sitting around just taking up space that could free up some cash. I appreciate the kind words again. That is what makes this hobby great, people who care about cars and other folks. |

Been a few days so I believe I can add to this thread. Here are a shot of the interior and the back floor pans. The front seats look as nice as the backs.
Floors are good. When I restored them I wasn’t after a show piece just functionality and making sure it was solid. Just washed the car last night and it looks pretty good for a 62. Will try to add a clean pic later. Thanks PY as well for allowing the listing/posting. |

Thanks to all.
Also, no more driveshaft vibration on 3 separate outings. I turned the driveshaft and seems to be good. I believe I said it before but the car runs and drives awesome for a 62. 4.10 rear gear and t56 really make it a great cruiser. |
