Default 68 Ignition Switch Cyl. Remove

Hello All,

I had the ignition switch fail on me today and I am not able to remove the cylinder.

The spring back return from the cranking position no longer returns and I have to jump the solenoid in order to crank.

The problem is that the cylinder will not release from the switch.

I can depress the plunger with a wire thru the bezel when in the Acc. position and turn the cylinder counterclockwise slightly further while removing the wire but the cylinder will not release from the switch housing.

I am thinking that there may be some internals associated with the spring back from cranking position that are not allowing the cylinder to release.

Any Ideas on how to remove it without destroying it?

Thanks Dave.
